Productive few days

Well I've been working hard this past few days on a couple of things.
Added a rather long and action packed chapter to my second novel and
a couple of shorter chapters to my mystery novella - short story.
The stories are so different, but seems easier to add to each since
there is no crossover.
My daughter has fixed me up with a Face Book account and now with
a blog and FP, I'll have to be ready for what the internet throws my
way. Like everything else - I'll be going slow, slow slow.
I have a couple of new ideas for short stories and am trying to outline
a believable course for each to take. They are also different from the
other things I have been working on. I'll give more details as I flesh out
the storyline.

Back to Work

01-26-09 Took a little break this past weekend. Tried to do some more
research on blogs and best way to get the info out there. I linked my
website: www.seaandships.com to my blog and added both addresses
to my e-mail. Probably not much of a big deal for most of you guys,
but for me a major accomplishment. I changed the template on my blog
because it was too hard to read before.
I'm finishing up another chapter in my current book and adding some
more to my short story today. I'm still shooting for June to get the
second book published and asap on the short stories. There was a nice
article in the Post this morning about a guy who has been struggling to
keep his one man book publishing business afloat. Works out of his
home in Alexandria, VA. Talk about a labor of love.
Back to the computer, I can hear those little microchips calling.

Back to the Writing Part

01--22-09 Well I'm putting the blog development stuff aside for a few
days and trying to get back into the writing mode. I need to write some
short stories and poems and see if I can get something published.
Self publishing is ok but I'm sure there is a certain sense of
accomplishment when someone pays you for your work and
approves of it for its commercial (or maybe) creative content.
This may never happen, but I willing to give it a try. More later.

Still Getting the Hang of the Blog Thing

1-20-09 - Well I've completed my profile and have been trying to wade through the millions of bloggers profiles out there and I made it up to about 80. I've got to find another way to locate blogs that sort of match my interests. Will work on that some more.
Went to a critique session at Borders for the Rappahannock Writers last night. About ten souls showed up on a really cold night. Everyone brought something and the readings and critiques went smoothly. Really diverse writing, noir novels, poetry, expressions of interest and so on. We met for about two hours. I read my poem "Cap'n Jack" everyone seemed to like it.
I'm going to try to figure out how to get some bloggers interested in my site and find some kindred spirits out there.
Inauguration is over and parade is on TV. Hope Obama can live up to the hype. Poor guy has a real mess to contend with. How much is it going to cost us - who knows.

First Post

Just starting on the blog thing - hope as time goes on to get some serious feedback
on my offerings. I am an author, writing novels of maritime fiction. The first
is described at www.seaandships.com and just came out in December 08. Writing is
not as easy as I thought it would be, but with help from different sources I
managed to forge onward. I am interested in most things nautical and read extensively,
particularily books about 18th century historical events. Well that's it for this first effort.
Back to work. I'll try to keep posting as I wind my way through the second
installment of this series.
